Hypericon 8 Report

So recently yours truly had the honor of being one of the guests at Hypericon 8 in Nashville.

Whenever attending a new con alone, I’m always nervous if I’ll be the odd one out or if I’ll be nervous. Truth be told I’m very shy and introverted. I say all this to explain that I had absolutely nothing to worry about. Once I arrived, I felt at home and had friends aplenty (old and new) to have an incredible weekend with.

I also learned a few things:

1) Irish pubs rock.

2) Always confer with Mandi on wardrobe choices so I don’t dress like her friends two days straight.

3) There is no such thing as too much Robert Downey Jr.

The very cool thing about smaller cons like Hypericon is that it’s so intimate and casual, the three-day event feels like a slumber party with 100 friends in a very swanky hotel.

Thanks to the staff who worked very hard to make sure everyone had a great time and the other guests, including GoH Robin Hobb. She was an absolute delight to chat with and hang out with.

Special thanks to my man Cass Teague for the wonderful article.

I for one look forward to Hypericon next year.
