I just got news that journalist, activist, trailblazer, real life superhero, and close personal friend, Monica Roberts has passed away.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it now, and I’ll say it again many times afterwards. There have been a number of us who have come up through the equal rights activism ranks.
Monica, without question, was the best of all of us. She was a leader, a mentor, the personification of #BlackGirlMagic and #BlackExcellence. She was the definition, of beauty, wisdom, class, vision and hope.
I learned so much from her and I’m a better person for having had her in my life.
To honor her life, legacy and reunion with the ancestors, I’m sharing one of my all-time favorite pieces; an interview with the Transgriot founder herself.
Rest in power, Moni. God bless. And thank you.
My condolences to you, Dennis. This post is a beautiful testimony to Monica’s legacy.
Thank you so much.
You’re welcome.
