So this past weekend was Hypericon. One of my favorite cons, it’s special to me because I get to see many of my loved ones, family really, and it is always the perfect way to kick off summer. Great food, great friends, scifi, cosplay, what more can a guy ask for?
Sadly I wasn’t able to attend this year. One of my closest friends is undergoing chemotherapy so I’ve been staying with him and helping him out.
Nevertheless, I couldn’t let this year go by without commemorating Hypericon. And what better way to celebrate the con than by sharing one of the most cherished moments I’ve had as a professional author.

Recently HyperiCon celebrated its 10th year and I was honored to be invited back as one of the guests for such a major milestone.
For the past few years, Stephania Grimm, Brian Cooksey, Melissa Gay, Mandi Lynch, and the rest of the HyperiCon crew have made me feel welcomed and always deliver a fun-filled and memorable weekend.
This year was no different.
We took time to honor one of our own. Fred Grimm, one of the co-founders, passed away earlier this year.
I was both humbled and honored to sit on some panels with some literary legends and talk shop about the intricacies of being a storyteller.
The Literary Underworld was present and accounted for as were the usual suspects.
More than that, I got to meet some awesome new peeps including Johnathan French, Robert Midgett and Peter Welmerink.
But since a pic is worth a thousand words, here’s a few of HyperiCon kicking off summer with the party of the summer.
Special thanks to the staff and the crew for having me and making the weeknd a memorable milestone.

So recently yours truly had the honor of being one of the guests at Hypericon 8 in Nashville.
Whenever attending a new con alone, I’m always nervous if I’ll be the odd one out or if I’ll be nervous. Truth be told I’m very shy and introverted. I say all this to explain that I had absolutely nothing to worry about. Once I arrived, I felt at home and had friends aplenty (old and new) to have an incredible weekend with.
I also learned a few things:

And it’s official. Yours truly will be a guest next month at Hypericon 8 in Nashville, TN. The three day event runs from June. 14-16 at the Holiday Inn Express. While this is my first year in attendance, I couldn’t be more stoked.
This con is run by some most excellent peeps and I’m going to be in stellar company. Case in point, my partner in crime Sara Harvey will also be in attendance.
I for one can’t wait. This is definitely a most excellent way to kick off the summer.
